Summer Cruise 2013 (36)

Greyfriars Mooring to Sprotbrough.

Heavy showers of rain overnight. The wind has picked up and so we are sitting it out for a while to see it it abates before leaving.

Morning: Some boats were having problems with the wind getting off the moorings. One wide beam after taking on water at the visitor mooring waterpoint hit the old coal chute and damaged the cabin roof.

Afternoon: The wind has dropped but Doncaster town lock is a pretty sheltered location. After the lock it was an uneventful trip with only a pair of narrowboats and a broad beam going in the other direction.

Evening: Settled down to watch match of the day. This is a poor location for TV reception so we watched it on the laptop.

Wildlife: Three Kingfishers, Tawny Owl and three Pipistrelle bats.
